When Marx Meets Islam

When Marx Meets Islam

$19.95

"Craig Considine names the threat with precision. Marxists and Islamists have joined forces to wage a soft war on the West, and the U.S.-Israel alliance is their prime target. He maps the network from campus agitators to professors, front organizations, politicians, and foreign patrons. He separates Muslims from Islamists and liberals from Leftists. Then he delivers a strategy to win. This is applied scholarship at its best."
Gregg Roman, Executive Director, Middle East Forum

About the Book

The most dangerous political alliance of the twenty-first century is not one of nations but of ideologies—Marxism and Islamism. In When Marx Meets Islam, sociologist Craig Considine delivers an urgent and unsparing critique that exposes this toxic new convergence, which is fueled by shared antipathy toward Enlightenment values and animosity toward the United States, Israel, and other democratic countries. He lays bare the motivations and intellectual foundations of the Leftist-Islamist alliance and meticulously dissects its operational tactics across a variety of fronts, from college campuses to international organizations. A well-known advocate for civic values and interfaith dialogue, Considine speaks from experience: he has witnessed firsthand the rise of these mutually reinforcing revolutionary forces and has himself even been the target of their public attacks and silencing campaigns. This landmark book offers an accessible yet in-depth account of this growing, increasingly urgent challenge—and serves as a guide for protecting the West against what Considine identifies as the most significant ideological threat of our time.

When Marx Meets Islam is essential reading for anyone . . . who wants to understand the current challenges posed to Western civilization by the alliance of the radical left with Islamic fundamentalism. Considine not only shows how the 'red-green' alliance works to undermine national security, destroy objectivity, scientific standards, and meritocracy in education, promote anti-Semitic and anti-American agendas, and challenge law enforcement and intelligence agencies, but also—importantly—offers practical advice on how Western tolerance must be protected against intolerance while still preserving free speech. Significantly, the book documents the author’s personal odyssey from believer to critic, a difficult epiphany of the dangers posed by this synthesis of radical Islam with Marxism. Highly recommended!”
—Timothy L. Jackson, Distinguished University Research Professor of Music Theory, College of Music, University of North Texas

”When Marx Meets Islam is a superb primer explaining these phenomena which unsurprisingly begin in the academy. Weaving in personal experiences as a professor at Rice University, Craig Considine expertly describes the coalition of Leftists and Islamists who have found common cause and a fertile breeding ground on college campuses for fellow travelers to join their movement to dismantle our constitutional republic, cultural institutions, freedoms, and Judeo-Christian values. Insightfully illustrating how the Orwellian perversion of language is used in order to promote ideologies . . . anathema to the survival of Western civilization . . . When Marx Meets Islam is a must-read to understand the battle and stop this coalition from using academia to brainwash and broaden their forces.”
—Lauri B. Regan, Vice President and Treasurer, Scholars for Peace in the Middle East

”Craig Considine has seen the civilizational threat of the revolutionary Left up close and personal. He now examines the danger posed when two of the most virulent totalitarian ideologies combine to attack Western Civilization. Europe chose submission; America cannot afford to do the same.”
—Jim Hanson, Fox News Contributor, President of Security Studies Group, and former U.S. Army Special Forces
